Baptism
The child’s parents must first approach the Vicar, and a date for baptism will be agreed with a minimum of eight weeks between initial contact and the date of the baptism.

The Vicar will arrange for a member of the Pastoral visiting team to contact the parents who arrange to deliver a DVD/video with accompanying booklet and also arrange a visit for a few days later.

Two members of the Pastoral team will then visit the parents and share their experience of the DVD/video.

Two weeks prior to the baptism, a visit to the church will be arranged for the parents and godparents of all children to be baptised on the Sunday. There will be a rehearsal of the service and the opportunity to discuss any issues highlighted by the DVD with the Clergy and Pastoral Team members.  Four scriptural passages will also be discussed.

After the baptism, one of the Pastoral team will contact the parents and offer a visit to discuss the spiritual journey.

It is recognised that there might be some valid family circumstances that might lead to a different timetable. It is also recognised that godparents may not always be able to attend  the meeting in church.

Baptisms normally take place at 12 noon on the first Sunday of the month. Baptisms during the 10.30 am service are available on request, especially for children of couples who are used to regular communion.
