Sunday Club 2007  Update
Well what can we say!  We have had yet another successful year with our numbers gradually increasing.

We have a core of around 20 children that attend Sunday Club on a regular basis with another 9 attending as often as they can.

We have carried out a variety of different activities over the year and have continued to ensure that the lessons each week tie in with the readings for that day.

We have experimented with different resources and found the internet to be a valuable tool.

We have taken part in the various services from our play last Easter, Palm Trees to Easter Gardens, to continuing to decorate our window, even if the men in the fishing boats did look like muggers (according to the children!).

Once again we had a successful nativity with the children enjoying being part of the Christmas story.  It is nice for the congregation to join in as the children feel part of the church and we all enjoy a good sing along to tunes that we know! We also held a Christmas party were Father Christmas came to visit!

During the year we have made cards for the people that are unwell , made head dresses with flames on, made stained glass windows out of tissue paper, made candles out of Pringles tubes, made boxes full of love, made caterpillars, butterflies, sheep, gates, a scrap book for our twinned parish in Germany, a scrap book for Franks retirement.  We’ve played games with newspaper fish, had hunt the objects around the Church Hall and been into the Church yard to hug the trees and plants! Most recently we have looked at how to say I love you in many different languages and that Jesus says he loves you no matter what. We have also carried out many more activities each week, whilst relating it back to the bible and how God wants us to live our lives.

We have recently purchased a number of percussion instruments (triangles, tambourines, bells, cymbals and rainmakers) and a number of CD’s from the Diocesan Children’s Work Advisor.  These were used for the first time in Church on Palm Sunday with the Palm Sunday song to the tune of She’ll be coming round the mountain. You will be seeing these more often as we learn more and more songs.

In today’s society it is not always the done thing to be seen to go to church and we are striving to give the children the courage and strength to stand up and be counted.  We are continuing to ensure that the Sunday Club children feel part of the Church and understand what everything means.  We are striving to ensure that it is fun and that they will want to bring their friends!

If anybody would like to visit us on a Sunday morning and experience how much fun you can have learning about how God is in all the aspects of our lives and see how much can be packed into 40 minutes you are more than welcome.

If you know of anybody who would like more information about the Sunday Club or would like their children to join in the fun please encourage them to either come along or contact me.
